Chicago Blues Festival 2006

Get down to the sounds of boogie woogie, swing and delta blues at one of Chicago's largest free outdoor festivals.

Chicago, known for cultivating the blues, delivers a can't-miss blues festival year after year. The stage has hosted blues names as big as Ray Charles, B.B. King, KoKo Taylor, Bo Diddley, Chuck Berry and Buddy Guy. More than 750,000 people are expected to descend on Grant Park for this one-of-a-kind festival. There will be plenty of food, drink, souvenirs and cultural exhibits celebrating the blues tradition.

This amazing summer festival is definitely worth the hype. Grab some grub from one of the food tents, then pick a spot on the lawn and enjoy the show. Casual fans and blues aficionados alike appreciate the artists that grace the stages at this four-day festival. Even if you don’t know anything at all about this classically American art form, it’s worth the trip to Grant Park. It can get incredibly hot and crowded, though--bring a bottle of water.
